Overview

In high-volume testing, every step between specimens adds up. Instron® safety light curtains streamline the process by keeping protection active in the background, so operators can stay focused on the test. An invisible infrared field guards the hazard zone, protecting operators from pinch and crush hazards without adding steps to their workflow.

Safety light curtains are fully integrated with the 6800 Series handset and Bluehill® Universal software, so system status is always visible and protection fits into the workflow your team already knows.

Safety Built Into the Workflow

Protection stays active automatically. There's no button to press, no key to leave bypassed, and no door to reset.

Note: The infrared beams are invisible to the eye. Green and red are used here only to visually represent system status — shifting to red to illustrate the automatic shutdown when the detection threshold is crossed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the light curtain protect against flying debris or specimen fragments?

No. The light curtain protects against crush and pinch hazards from moving system components — it doesn't protect against flying debris or specimen fragments. If your testing involves brittle or composite materials, a full debris shield with an interlock door is recommended instead.
